Contractors Demand DuraTite
The DuraTite team met with hundreds of HVAC installers at the recent Comfortech Show held at the St. Louis America's Center, September 27-28. The question was always the same, "Where can I get these fittings?". DuraTite take offs are available across the country. If your preferred distributor isn't listed on our new "Locator Map" on www.duratite.com, have them fill out our Request to Become a Distributor online form.
Here's what else we heard from Comfortech attendees:
- What sizes do you have available? We have the most popular sizes including 5", 6", 7" and 8" available now. The 4", 9", 10" and 12" will be introduced by December.
- How do the costs compare to metal? DuraTite has found that distributors across the country are pricing our plastic take off competitively with the metal tab collar. The labor savings associated with our product gives DuraTite a tremendous advantage, best illustrated with the customizable Savings Calculator located on our website www.duratite.com/products/savings-calculator/
- Can DuraTite's fitting work with sheet metal? DuraTite's unique fastening sytem allows the same fitting for sheet metal up to 2" duct board. Plus, you can use flex duct or metal pipe to connect to your register or grille of choice.
- What do you mean by pre-installing your flex? Since you don't have to reach through the take off to bend back any tabs, you can actually tape and/or strap your flex inner lining in place hand up the flex run with our fitting attached, pull off the gasket release paper and pull the clip zips in place.
- Will you ship direct to the contractor? Absolutely, we can work with your existing distributor or another current distributor in your area to get you best market price and ship direct. Check out our new Distributor Locator at www.duratite.com/distributor-locator/
- What is your freight policy? We will ship best way, prepay the freight for you and invoice later. We pass on our freight savings direct to you.
- Will the code inspectors approve this? Code inspectors across the country continue to approve DuraTite Take Offs virtually on a daily basis. If you email us your inspector's contact information, DuraTite can discuss in detail our UL2043 approval and recent scope change to address discrete products installed in an air-handling space and our specific proposal to add a Plastic duct fitting section to the IMC code with your code inspector.
- What do you mean it eliminates mastic? DuraTite take offs have been approved in several markets to replace mastic at the trunk line connection given our double sided gasket and Clip Zip fastening system.
- How much faster is it? Try it and tell us. In our Take Off Challenge Video featured on our site www.duratite.com and most recently You Tube, our illustrious, CEO Jim Karnes completely installed 4 DuraTite take offs to the other installers one metal tab collar. Go ahead, request your FREE sample and give it a try.
- Cutting our hands is just how it is. Not anymore. DuraTite Take offs are hand safe, so personal injury is a thing of the past. Plus, look at the significant time savings this will give you. Think about it...how many times have your installers cut themselves, that your paying for stitches, lost time on the job and increased Worker's Comp rates.
- I'm concerned about the length the damper handle sticks out and once you pull up the insulation jacket you will not be able to adjust it, as it will not be able to stick out past the insulation.
The handle actually sticks out the same if not more than the metal one, but cannot be bent out like the metal one. In our discussions with contractors, it was pointed out that although the metal handle can be bent out to poke through the insulation, the wingnut still has to be exposed in order to adjust the damper, thus the insulation must be peeled back. Beyond the stay-in-place and locking ratchet features of the DuraTite damper, the advantage in this regard is that our handle is connected directly to the damper and can be taped in place to avoid movement from incidental contact.
